Special Effects Makeup Artist

I have always had a great love of makeup. I could rarely leave a drug store without purchasing some fabulous new shade of eyeshadow or a lipstick that was on sale...and don't even get me started on Halloween.

During a brief stint in modeling, I discovered how much I loved applying makeup and trying new looks. I expressed to my various photographers my interest in working for them as a makeup artist and the work started coming in immediately. I soon grew bored with the world of fashion as I had very little opportunity to be artistic and got stuck in the "girl next door look" rut.

After several years of waning interest, I happened upon a brutal and bloody film for which I volunteered to assist in makeup. My love of makeup was renewed, but became a different animal altogether as I entered the world of special effects. I have discovered that I love nothing more than to be covered in blood and dirt by the end of a shoot. It makes me feel like I'm really accomplishing something. I'll admit that I get a thrill from the look of disgust on the faces of those who see my work. The bloodier, the better, I always say.

I continue to build my portfolio by working on any new assignment I can find. The pay is not always that great, but the rewards are endless. I feel blessed to have found my passion.
