Take Flight!

So I’ve always wanted to make a movie. But I think that most people have. I never thought I would have the chance.

I got my chance though, when, out of the blue, my younger brother is incredibly interested in acting. So, he’s enrolled in acting classes and is practicing with vigor. As a goal for him (and a hobby for me), I told him we’d make a movie next year. CUE MY ENTHUSIASM!

My idea was a short – written, filmed and edited by me. That’s all fine and good, but the more that we thought about it and discussed it we figured, well, why not go all the way?

I started researching independent films. Over the course of about a week in late July 2008, I learned an immense amount and became very inspired. There are independent filmmakers all over the country who’s production budgets are just as low as mine. This excites me seeing as how my budget is what one would spend on any hobby……..not very much.

I really dug deep and I learned that there are TONS of people willing to work for nothing other than screen credit and the experience itself. I also learned that not only is this going to be a fun hobby, but that it’s a totally feasible project.

So, I got started.
