<p><span class="caps">JOHNNIE</span> BE <span class="caps">GOOD</span> is the second feature length documentary from Art Holliday. <span class="caps">BEFORE</span> <span class="caps">THEY</span> <span class="caps">FALL</span> <span class="caps">OFF</span> <span class="caps">THE</span> <span class="caps">CLIFF</span>: <span class="caps">THE</span> <span class="caps">RIPPLE</span> <span class="caps">EFFECT</span> OF <span class="caps">SCHIZOPHRENIA</span> (www.beforetheyfall.com) was the first documentary by Holliday. The veteran broadcast journalist served as director,<br /> producer, chief videographer and writer. <span class="caps">BEFORE</span> <span class="caps">THEY</span> <span class="caps">FALL</span> was selected by the St. Louis International Film Festival, The Kansas International Film Festival, the True/False Film Festival, and the <span class="caps">IFP</span> Market, where it was a finalist for the Gordon Parks Award. The film was screened at the national conference of the National Alliance for Mental Illness (<span class="caps">NAMI</span>) and the national conference for the Crisis Intervention Team (<span class="caps">CIT</span>) a program that trains police officers about mental illness issues.</p> <p>“People always ask me why I decided to make films,” says Holliday. “There are so many fascinating stories to tell, whether it’s someone who helped create rock and roll or a young man struggling to regain his sanity after committing a horrible crime. Each documentary project is a fantastic journey and learning experience.”</p> <p>Holliday’s television broadcasting career spans more than 30 years in news and sports. Currently Holliday co-anchors with Jennifer Blome on “Today In St. Louis” and “NewsChannel 5 at Noon” on <span class="caps">KSDK</span>-TV, the <span class="caps">NBC</span> affiliate in St. Louis. For two years Holliday also served as executive producer. Before joining <span class="caps">KSDK</span> in 1979, Holliday<br /> worked at <span class="caps">KOCO</span>-TV in Oklahoma City as a sports reporter/photographer.</p> <p>Holliday’s work as a broadcaster has been recognized with numerous awards. In 2003, The University of Missouri-Columbia selected Holliday for its prestigious Faculty-Alumni Award. In 2002, the St. Louis chapter of the National Alliance For The Mentally Ill presented Holliday with its annual Media Award. In 2001, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Greater St. Louis Association of Black Journalists. Holliday’s other achievements include the 1999 Mental Health Media Award from the State Advisory Council for Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, and the 1996 Distinguished Achievement Award of the School District of St. Charles. Holliday’s sports casting talents resulted in three St. Louis Emmy awards, two for Best Sportscaster in 1988 and 1985, and one for Best Sports Feature in 1989. In 1978 the Oklahoma United Press International awarded Holliday the award for Best Sports Program.</p>
