Born and raised in Luray, Virginia, Matt Cloude was inspired with film making at a very young age while watching the old Universal and Hammer Monster Movies. By age 13, Cloude was making home movies and designing monster masks for himself and friends to wear for Halloween.
At age 23, Cloude was hired by Darkstone Entertainment to do Makeup FX on Skeleton Key part 2 (which he also ended up acting in), after that, Cloude decided to make a gamble with his first movie. Scraping together around $15,000, he wrote, produced, and directed the 70's style exploitation/horror shocker The Creightonville Terror, which was clearly inspired by the all of the 70's horror films and exploitation films of the "Grind House Era". After completion of his first full length movie, Cloude went on for the next few years serving as Special FX artist on such films as Skeleton Key 3, Triad, Grimmel, The Lovecraft Chronicles, The Plan 9 from Outer Space remake teaser trailer, Scream Queen Campfire, The Dark Tower, Atone, Apocalypse, and much more. Cloude has now went back to the director's chair with directing three new films, David Gwin's Reptilians, his new film Midnight in the Mortuary, and a loose prequel/remake to George Romero's Night of the Living Dead, which will feature tons of familiar faces from horror films and other "Dead Films", such as Judith O'dea, Mike Christopher, David Early, and more! Aside from those films, Cloude is also busy with the new Special Makeup FX company Night Creatures FX, which he co-owns with his partner Karen Michelle. Other than the film Apocalypse, Cloude and Night Creatures FX are busy working on the film Reptilians, the anthology series Trick or Eat, and much more. He is also co-producing and working on the Ontario, Canada based children series, The Hamityville Spoookies.
Cloude loves working on these new feature films and continues to try to make his place in cinema history as a struggling director-for-hire
