Life is more interesting when we take risks since i feel it creates more oppurtunities

Hello everybody

I am Haushala Thapa, a 24 year old girl from Kathmandu, Nepal. I love outdoor sports, music, traveling and the simple things in life that come our way. I love and hate my mother's extra sensitive care towards me and I love debating with my sister!

WHAT I DO & WHY I DO IT

It has been 3years now that I and along with my friends have founded an organisation called "Children and Youth First" in short we call CYF. This cause was started when we came across children in a home that were mistreated and not given the basic needs that they deserved. Me and along with my friends couldn't see this and knew we had to change this and help the children get the lives they were promised. We currently support the education of 35 underprivileged children with education with a difference. We not only educate them with just books but with recreational activities.Making school FUN!Since we know underprivileged children are always given less opportunities in Nepal, a child is just A CHILD after all!

I feel lucky that I was born in a good family and received the best education and care , but I was never proud of it since I always felt we needed to give back to the society and specially help the future ie the children of Nepal and all over the world. Today I am happy with the team of people who work hard everyday to make the lives of Nepali underprivileged children better, because I feel I have made the best use of the education and care i received.

I believe we need to focus on the children who are in need since they are very vulnerable to many negative things if their childhood is not secure. I believe direct support is VERY important and all children ask for is a safe and memorable child hood. I want to do this work with children because I can see everyday how it transform them and the smile is priceless!

Besides this, I help my friend make and market handicrafts which are basically miniature cultural nepali house, custom mirrors, photo frames and jewelery boxes. All these crafts are of recycled paper and I love creating new things.

There are many challenges in life, I passed through one of the difficult moments in my life when my father was disabled due to stroke, it was the most life changing experience for me and my family and for a moment I felt helpless and weak but we learned as a family everyday that its the positivity that keeps us going and life is never certain so always do what we can do for a better world and live life in the simplest way you can to enjoy and experience life in A DETAIL

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We need your help to send nepali children in Government schools to goto classes regularly and cut down the absence rate. In Government schools in Nepal many schools only have school buildings and classroom and an empty field but lack recreational activity items. We need your help to construct school playground in government schools so that children are encouraged to goto school for their CREATIVE SIDE. Your help will support to get table tennis tables, football posts, swing, slides & a basketball court.

WHY HELP?

If we look back in our childhood days, we know we spent most of the time with various indoor and outdoor games that helped us know about discipline, creativity and teamwork! The government schools in Nepal need this, because just the education in theory is not only important but practical knowledge is equally necessary.
Plus if a school does not have ANY recreational activity or items, will a Child be ENCOURAGED TO GOTO SCHOOL EVERYDAY? Instead of missing school. We want a child to come and attend school not just to study but also to play!

OUTCOME

CHILDREN ATTENDING SCHOOL TO READ AND PLAY
ENCOURAGING OTHER ORGANISATION's and Individual to carry out this type of Project

WHAT IF THE GOAL IS NOT MET?

If the goal is not met we will STILL continue this project by collecting materials of recreational activity for children and carrying out classes in government schools on "awareness of importance of recreational activity and its impact" by our team and young student volunteers.

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN

YOU HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE
POSTCARD FROM THE PROJECT SIGNED BY THE CHILDREN SUPPORTED BY CYF
YOU HAVE HELPED CHILDREN GOTO SCHOOL MORE!
Updates on the project and DATA on the development of children attending schools

You can know more about the various activities we do in our facebook page : Children and Youth First
