Originally from Altoona, Pennsylvania, Edward Banchs holds an MA in African Studies from the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. An avid metal fan, Edward began the idea for Heavy Metal Africa after a trip to South African in 2007. A contributor for heavymetal.about.com, his writings have also appeared in The Guardian (UK). Heavy Metal Africa is his first book.
