mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} </style> <![endif]--> <!--StartFragment--> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Chris King is a multiple award winning filmmaker and three-time NorCal Emmy nominated television writer/producer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>After receiving his B.A. in film at California State University, Long Beach, he worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment as a promotions and game show material writer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Simultaneously, Chris worked as a freelance scriptwriter-for-hire.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>His feature-length and short screenplays have garnered national attention in The Nicholl Fellowship, the Chesterfield Film Project, Fade In Magazine and HBO’s Project Greenlight.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">His first feature film <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Touching Down</i></b> received numerous film festival awards and nominations, including both the Jury Prize and Audience Awards at the Sacramento Intl Film & Music Festival, and the Bronze REMI Award at WorldFest-Houston. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Awakening</i> </b>was his first short film.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>After screening at several festivals, it was picked up for world distribution by The Spiritual Cinema Circle where it played in over 80 countries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Chris has made four more short films since; <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Life</i></b>, <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Rachel, The Killing of Mary Surratt</i></b>, and<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"> Proposal</i></b>.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Life</i></b> (about the Baby Safe Surrender program) was also made into a series of English and Spanish language Public Service Announcements, was nominated for an Emmy, and has played for millions throughout California.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The PSAs were ultimately picked up by both Los Angeles County and Kern County as their official Safe Surrender Program commercial.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Rachel</i> </b>and <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">The Killing of Mary Surratt</i> </b>are Watermark’s most successful films to date.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Combined, they have played in over 125 cities in 40 countries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>They’ve screened at over 35 film festivals including the Oscar-qualifying fests, L.A. ShortsFest (twice) and Cleveland International.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Lead actress of <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Rachel</i></b> (Kelly Nixon) was also awarded Best Actress at VisionFest-New York, the first time in the festival’s history this award went to an actor in a short film instead of a feature.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">The Killing of Mary Surratt</i></b>, about the first woman in America executed by the federal government for her role in the Lincoln assassination, was later picked up for distribution by the Surratt House Museum in Maryland and at Ford’s Theatre National Museum in Washington DC and is still playing the festival circuit.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p> <span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";mso-ansi-language: EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US">While<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"> Proposal</i></b> is currently on the festival circuit, Chris is in pre-production on three short films.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Chris resides in Rocklin, California with Co-Producer (and wife) Heather King and their two daughters</span><!--EndFragment--> <br>
