American Slavery Project: Unheard Voices
<p>I am the Producing Artistic Director of the American Slavery Project which is a theatrical response to revisionism in this country's discourse around slavery, the Civil War and Jim Crow. I conceived "Unheard Voices" which is an original theatre piece inspired by the African Burial Ground in Lower Manhattan and collectively written by ASP Writers Collective playwrights. I am<span> an Emmy Award winning writer and WGA award recipient. I've written scripts and story for several TV shows and my plays have been presented in theatres throughout the United States. As a teaching artist I've led hundreds of activity-based workshops for a variety of educational outreach programs including Manhattan Theatre Club and TDF. I am the co-author of the playwriting manual used in schools for the Theatre Development Fund. I am an alumna of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts conservatory program and was an honors graduate receiving the Founder's Day Award, Seidman Award and Beinecke Award.</span></p> <p> </p>
