Program Manager, San Quentin Prison Arts

San Rafael, California, United States

I am an artist and a teacher and supporter of community arts. I truly believe the arts are for everyone, and want to make them accessible to all. I've taught art to women in prison through the California Arts Council, and worked for California's Arts-in-Corrections program for many years organizing statewide art exhibits, bridging the world between 'inside' and outside, and hoping to break down stereotypes. Recently, we had an inmate art exhibit on Alcatraz which reached thousands of people a day, many of whom were moved by the work and saw the need for prison arts programs to help rehabilitation efforts in California.
