Deric Mendes

Long Beach, California, United States

Freelance journalist and blogger covering politics, culture and literature. In 2010 I was a finalist in the Nation's student essay contest. Since then I've written for several publications, such as the North Coast Journal, and have been fortunate to interview people with contrasting ideologies such as Bill Ayers, Karl Rove and Ted Haggard. Currently, when not studying philosophy and global politics at CSULB, I write a blog called Bold Type.
