Officetel studies architecture and design. The objective of this research is to discover a neglected component in modern Korean architecture called the officetel. The word officetel is a portmanteau of the English language as well as hotel. It was a reception space with no amenities other aside from a bathroom. According to architects they believe that the Korean version was created to allow tourists to wait in waiting areas. It is very typical of Asian architectural designs, some people believe it's a miracle that no Westerner has ever seen. But there are certain elements of Korean architecture that would not be possible without planning.
