Lets change the world!

Aloha my name is Matt Lane. I am proud to say I am community organizer here in Maui. My recent project has been with a Federal Grant through the CDC, Health Dept, and Community Work Day working on 16 gardens all over Maui County. This project is dedicated to creating a grassroots preventive health care movement while creating food security for our island - a very necessary movement with high rates of obesity and a 90% importation rate of food. As I see the importance of health, nutrition and physical activity in the garden I am also highly exposed to waste streams and how they benefit a garden. My yearly activities also included helping thousands of Volunteers to clean up Maui Beaches. For over 6 years I have been organizing the Lahaina Town Clean Up and have also had the opportunity to help organize Community Work Day’s “Get the Drift and Bag It.” These two projects have led me to many personal solutions and realizations. Our gardens, food, packaging, importation, and waste streams are highly connected to our ocean debris. There are solutions let us help you create them.

I am proud to be a part of Community Work Day organization

With Maui community’s help last year we: organized over 9,105 volunteers, built 8 gardens, hosted 26 recycling events, held 143 beautification events, cleaned 113,060 pounds of trash from our environment, planted over 5,000 native plants, and recycled over 1,255 appliances

With the collaboration of Trilogy and Community Work Day we represent a part of the Mauka to Makai efforts to help keep Maui Clean. Please support us by donating to our trip with the Algalita/Gyres Asia Expeploration Expedition on the Sea Dragon
