In 2010, ellen released "(New) Years". Each song's title contains a reference to a specific year and the first six tracks are directly inspired by historical events and primary sources such as diaries, photographs and letters. Many tracks explore specific moments in women's History, as well as ellen's own personal journey and experience. The CD debuted in the top 20 at folk radio and is receiving rave reviews. She is hard at work on another collection of deeply person, intimate new songs created on the piano as well as working closely with the Maryland Historical Society on new music she will create, inspired by their 4 year-long Civil War exhibit. In 2009, ellen composed an original score for Nana Project’s shadow puppet piece, “Alzonzo’s Lullabyâ€, which was about a circus train wreck south of Chicago, in 1918. The piece has been awarded one of the most prestigious puppetry awards, the UNIMA-USA Citation of Excellence.
