Mara Legrand

Durango, Colorado, United States

I make films to compel change.

"Wild Horses In Winds of Change" is my second documentary to independently write, direct, film and produce. Both of my films thus far are about stewardship of nature and about our relationship as humans with all that is nature and wild. My stories highlight unsung heroes and grass roots efforts toward positive change for the health of people, animals and the planet. I have traveled the world as a military dependent, then as public health educator/ nutritionist and as a student and practiioner of Ayurvedic Medicine. Prior to making my first documentary: "Heart & Soil" I studied with many of America's best screenwriters and completed 8 original screen plays, recieving two options. It was rewarding to know my scripts had interest but frustrating they weren't produced. So I delved into producing what I considered tangible work in the form of documentaries. I believe my years in the field of helping people heal lends insight to my vision and catalyzes the healing energy in my films. Through making both documentaries I deepened my commitment to our inter-relationship with all that is nature and our role in it's sustainable balance.
