The perpetual imagination of Ricardo
I was born and raised in Berkeley and ever since I was little, even though I was to young to understand. I knew my life was going to be film. I believe that everyone is influenced to some extent by films/TV shows which they have watched at a young age. I grew up watching my all-time favorite TV show, Mad TV, and my favorite movie is The Mask with Jim Carrey, so I'm the funny guy in the group who is always laughing. My two younger brothers would rather watch me create these magnificent stories out of stuffed animals mixed in with action figures than watching regular television. At a young age, what struck me was that all the Latin actors always played the gangster, the immigrant, and in Mad TV, the impersonation of Ricky Martin. My life goal in film is to evolve the Latin character in film. My core in writing is from life experiences I’ve had which holds Latin and American morals which we have lost in the main film industry. For so long I didn’t get along with my parents because of the career choice i made, but after finally shooting my first short film, my father became proud of me and believed in my career choice. It was beautiful. Now in my second semester at Berkeley Digital Film School, I'm as happy as I can be. I love film...but not how expensive it is.
