<p><span><span>Christine is an Irish visual artist, based in Vancouver, Canada. She graduated<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> with </span>an honors BA in Photography from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2010. Her early work was concerned<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> with </span>music, particularly<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> with </span>up and coming Irish artists. In 2008 she was selected as an Irish representative and photographer for European Music festival, Europavox, in Clarmont-Ferrand for Irish music magazine, Hotpress. In March 2010 she was shortlisted for Smedia’s News Photographer of the Year Award. While based in Dublin, Christine worked freelance, contributing to Hotpress and State Magazine., as</span><span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> we</span>ll as working as the in-house photo-editor for makemyway.net, an Irish custom printing company.</span></p> <p><span>2009 saw the fulfillment of a self-initiated project based on a narrative around vegetarianism and anti-animal cruelty. This project titled ‘Evisceration’ took it’s first format in the publishing of a book in May 2009 and later<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> we</span>nt on to feature in group exhibition and was also featured in radio interview as<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> we</span><span>ll as in a PETA blog campaign. In 2010, an image taken from this series, was aw<span id="dtx-highlighting-item">are</span>d second place in Monday Magazine’s annual photography competition, and featured ina two-</span><span id="dtx-highlighting-item">we</span>ek exhibition in Community Art Council Gallery of Greater Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.</span></p> <p><span>Christine is currently immersed in a self initiated project, titled In Real Life. This project is a social commentary on the ways in which women<span id="dtx-highlighting-item"> are </span>received in the world. This blog (consumethiscosmo.wordpress.com) is the first of many formats to house the project. April 2012 will see the launch of this work-in-progress, in a solo exhibition at Xchanges Gallery, Victoria, British Columbia.
