<p>Girls Rock Dallas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and women through the use of music education to promote self-esteem and confidence by providing the opportunity to learn and express their musical creativity.&nbsp;</p> <p>The first rock camp for girls was formed in Portland, Oregon in 2001.&nbsp; To date there are over 40 camps in the United States and Europe, following the same ideals and principals of the original camp. In 2007 a group of organizers from rock camps around the world formed the Girls Rock Camp Alliance. GRCA was formed to help solidify the ideals and core beliefs and values of the rock camp for girls, as well as to be a place to provide resources and networking opportunities for the camps.&nbsp; Girls Rock Dallas was formed in November 2011 and is currently a pending affiliate of the GRCA.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
