Jeremy Leggett
London, United Kingdom
Social entrepreneur, writer, climate campaigner.
I used to be a consultant to the oil industry (1978-89), researching and teaching geology at Imperial College, including work on shale funded by BP, Shell and others. I became worried about global warming, though, and quit to be a climate campaigner, first with Greenpeace (1989-1996), then founding Solarcentury, where I am chairman. I also chair SolarAid, the charity we created with 5% of our profits in 2006, and Carbon Tracker, a financial think tank working on carbon-fuel asset-stranding risk.
