producer, artist, writer

In addition to producing "Heart of the Matter" community TV programs on a cable access station, I have written three screenplays, my most recent under the pen name Leah Kia. I enjoy working with the indie film community in Memphis, learning through Fuel Film workshops as well as participating in relevant seminars in Los Angeles, CA. I look forward to the opportunity of bringing my artistic talents to the larger canvas of film as have other artists before me and I hope this project obtains funding.

As in my painting, I want the images I put forth in the world to lead to greater harmony and avoid as much as possible those that glorify violence or evil while still producing works that entertain and reflect the struggle to move towards worthy, responsible behavior. (My screenplays don't have cursing and swearing in them.) In other words, I have a social conscience, and want what I produce to teach ways of handling life that will enhance the greater good of society.

I sponsored the "Heart of the Matter" educational community art programs through my one person business, Art Promotions. You can see a clip from a program on youtube. Links are at the bottom of the campaign home page. Prior to that I worked in management in two companies in the greater Washington DC area with budgeting responsibility in the 150-300K range. Now after a number of seminars, workshops and helping on some short films, I believe I'm ready to produce CHRISTMAS RIDE this year for a theatrical release in December, followed by a release on DVD.

THE NEW SCRIPT

CHRISTMAS RIDE is registered with WGAe and the Library of Congress. It's on www.facebook.com/ChristmasRide. I'm assembling a team of talented cinematographers, audio specialists, designers, etc. to make this. This screenplay has a modest number of locations and a small cast of nineteen speaking roles.

I was raised in a Christian family and led to the Lord Jesus Christ as a child. And I thank God for that because despite everything people may say bad about religion, I think Christianity teaches people behaviors we need more of in this world, like loving others as yourself and being kind and caring and other good qualities that might not be instilled any other way. Jesus truely offers us salvation, not only as individuals but as a society, by making us a better civilization.

So this script, CHRISTMAS RIDE, while a story about people dealing with problems and trying situations, is also about the greatest gift of Christmas, forgiveness, and the difficulty of giving and acccepting that gift.

Other details www.artpro.com Some may find it interesting to know the Marquis publications Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World include a write-up on me for a number of years.

My company is Art Promotions.
