Founded by Haki R. Madhubuti in 1967, Third World Press is the oldest independent publisher of Black literature in the country. For more than 45 years, Third World Press has published such award-winning poets, playwrights, and authors as Dudley Randall, Gwendolyn Brooks, Gil Scott Heron, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing, Sonia Sanchez, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and Roland Martin. This full-service publishing house, located in Chicago, publishes fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and children's books.
