About Bonnie

Bonnie was born in Melbourne, Australia and for as long as she can remember, has loved singing and making up songs–her Mum even says Bonnie was singing before she could talk!

When she was 14, Bonnie was competing as a springboard diver, where she met a girl who was signed to a modeling/acting agency. She thought the whole idea was very interesting, so when her friend invited her to meet with the agency, she thought she would give it a try! She soon signed with them and booked the first role she auditioned for, in the popular Australian Children’s Television series, ‘High Flyers’. She took time off school for the six month shoot and quickly fell in love with acting. From there she went on to star on many popular Australian TV Series’ including ‘Horace and Tina’, ‘Blue Heelers’, ‘Stingers’ and ‘Last Man Standing’.

When she was 16, out of the blue she got a call from Lucasfilm casting director Robin Gurland, who was interested in auditioning Bonnie for a role in the next ‘Star Wars’ movie. Bonnie was very excited to meet Robin and a couple of weeks later got the call that they had cast her as Beru, the woman who would go on to raise Luke Skywalker. Suddenly Bonnie found herself onset with George Lucas, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Joel Edgerton, Jack Thompson and Anthony Daniels. She flew to Tunisia to film her scenes and had quite a surreal experience shooting on the Sahara at the same locations as where the originals were filmed. Being a part of the Star Wars family has changed her life forever.

Also an accomplished singer/songwriter, Bonnie won numerous awards in Australia including the ‘Ranges Songsmith Award’ and the ‘Apollo Bay Young Performer’s Competition’ and was selected as one of only a handful of VCE students from Victoria to perform at Hamer Hall as part of the 2002 ‘Season of Excellence’.

From there, Bonnie travelled to LA and met Grammy Winning Music Producer Val Garay (‘Bette Davis Eyes’), who introduced her to some of the world’s greatest songwriters. During the next few years, Bonnie travelled around the US writing songs with Jack Tempchin (‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’, ‘Slow Dancin’), Eric Kaz (‘Love Has No Pride’), Bonnie Hayes (‘Have a Heart’) and J.D Souther (‘New Kid In Town’, ‘Heartache Tonight’).

Bonnie recorded her album, ‘The Deep End’ with Val and her song ‘All I Have’ was featured in two Episodes of the hit CW series ‘Life Unexpected’. As Bonnie always wanted to have her songs in TV shows and film, this was very much a dream come true! She then went on to work with Mark Kilian, to compose and sing on the soundtrack of the new movie, ‘Gus’ starring Radha Mitchell and Michelle Monaghan.

What People Are Saying About Bonnie

“Bonnie Piesse is a true story teller and has a unique ability to deliver honest emotion.
