Born Friday the 13th, and nobody's surprised.
I've tried. Lord knows I've tried to be normal, but my Mom was an art major and my Dad was an architect, and when I tripped and landed teeth down on a linoleum floor in 3rd grade music class, that sealed it; I had to be an artist.<div><br></div><div>Since then, I've been meeting and learning from some of the most talented people in the western hemisphere. and since the internet, the globe. I've actually made lifelong friends of some of the unfortunate ones, and we continue to grow and influence each other and hopefully, you!</div><div><br></div><div>So, I eventually found the heavenly body I've been orbiting since childhood, and oddly enough, she loves me too!</div><div>My story gets better, as my Wife is as odd as me, and is my biggest fan and support as I try to forge an independent artist's life. </div><div><br></div><div>Since 1994 I've been a professional artist. making a living in the entertainment, toy prototype, museum fabrication and illustration industries. I've usually spent my time realizing other people's visions, and dreaming about my own. This brings us to here..:</div><div><br></div><div>..The Bobble Dead, the simplest, funnest gag I've come up with to date. It's the kind of impulse buy I've reacted to since I was a kid. Garbage pail kids, Madballs, Famous Monsters, Mad Magazine, Eerie comics the Hulk and on, these were the sort of media that dealt with heavy life topics that were translated and made into caricature for an easier, and safer learning experience. </div><div><br></div><div>"Zombies". There's something about the undead ghouls made Famous by George Romero's Night of the Living Dead that have resonated with me. If it wasn't the true loss and death I experienced as a child, it may have been the powerful focus and immortality indicative of the ghouls. They never doubt themselves. They know what they want and they make a B-line for it. And hey, what's cuter than a bobblehead?<br></div><div><br></div><div>So, naturally, since the world agrees with me, (just look at the box office for zombie films lately) I figure these little bits of sugar coated morbidity should be the inaugural product of my new business, "n8-fx"! </div><div>I've gone by Courteau Sculpture Studio for some time, but this title took itself a little too seriously. n8-fx is fun, easy to remember and just technical enough to be taken seriously. </div><div><br></div><div>I'm really excited about the creative energy in this new economic world. While it's true, we're all shell-shocked by the events in recent years, being an artist for hire makes it all seem like business-as-usual, and we artists thrive in this. So, with that in mind, the thought of growing with the local arts community in an independent and disciplined way makes me feel optimistic.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm hoping that you feel the same way I do, and that the thought of supporting me and the entire local arts and business economy fills you with enthusiasm!</div><div><br></div><div>Thank you so very much for your time and support!</div><div><br></div><div>Nate Courteau</div><div><br></div><div>www.courteausculpturestudio.com</div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.n8-fx.com/index.php">http://www.n8-fx.com/index.php</a> (in progress)<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
