<p><span class="style_1">Raise the Curtain</span> is dedicated to providing funds and artistic resources for New York City&rsquo;s public school children by creating and developing long-term, sustainable theater programs. In addition to providing grant money and artistic support for in-school productions, <span class="style_1">Raise the Curtain's</span> ultimate goal is to provide incentives for New York City principals to hire a New York state certified theatre teacher. <span class="style_1">Raise the Curtain</span> maintains partnerships with schools until a realized theater program and subsequent curriculum is in place.</p> <p class="paragraph_style_1" style="padding-bottom: 0pt;" lang="--multilingual" xml:lang="--multilingual">When the organization was established in 2011, there was one certified theatre teacher for every 6,875 New York City students. <span class="style_1">Raise the Curtain</span> aims to improve this ratio, one school at a time. <span class="style_1">Raise the Curtain</span> believes that all students should benefit from the riches of theatre so that they may develop the skills necessary to realize their own creative gifts.</p>
