<p>Barry Shurchin is the Writer, Director and Producer of the Film. Barry Shurchin's award winning filmmaking career began with his first feature, "A Killing on Brighton Beach." His authentic, bilingual and multi-cultural depiction of the Russian underworld in New York's Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, earned him Best Original Screenplay at The Nodance Film Festival in January 2002 in Park City, Utah, and Best Action Comedy at The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in October 2001. <br />Shurchin was born in the Ukraine in 1971 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1979. He grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn and received a Bachelor of Arts degree, in Russian Literature from The University at Albany. Shurchin began to study acting in the late nineties with some of the most prominent teachers in New York such as Olympia Dukakis, William Esper and former Dean of Yale Acting Program, Earle Gister. <br />Shurchin’s first feature and second film, a short called “One Roll,” made in 2003, earned him the credibility to write, produce, direct and star in his next award winning feature “Dingle, Barry.” This 2005 dark comedy, starring Veronica Cartwight, Lukas Haas and Nicole Sullivan, won The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in 2005, The Long Island International Film Festival in 2005 and received critical acclaim. “Dingle, Barry is currently distributed nation wide. Adrien Brody and Jeremy Piven have provided letters of intent for Barry’s feature screenplay comedy “Disgruntled,” which he plans to make in the near future. Shurchin has also appeared as an actor in films like “School of Rock” and television shows such as the “Sopranos,” as well as many theatrical productions in New York City.</p>
