This is a campaign to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the last living silent film star, Baby Peggy aka Diana Serra Cary

In a world where silent film is finally making its comeback (Charlie Chaplin was right!) we felt it was time to honor a living silent film legend: Diana Serra Cary, also better known as Baby Peggy. As of October 2012 Baby Peggy is the last living silent film star (while Mickey Rooney and Carla Laemelle are still with us both had careers beyond silent film, Baby Peggy did not.)

Mickey Rooney, Shirley Temple, Jackie Coogan, Natalie Wood...every big child star has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, except Baby Peggy. Yet Baby Peggy was a huge star in her day. She made $1.5 million dollars a year (would be about $15 million in today's dollars) which led to her nickname. 'Million Dollar Baby', the song "Yes Sir, That's My Baby" was written in her honor, at the height of her fame she received 5,000 fan letters a week and was considered as newsworthy as Charlie Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino or Mary Pickford!

While silent film has been too long forgotten, we feel its time Baby Peggy got her thorough due! Considering the Oscars were not created until she retired (1928) and the Walk of Fame did not exist until 1958, many silent film stars including Baby Peggy were never truly honored for their amazing work.

Considering that we only have one true silent film star left, its about time we let her know just how much not only silent film but her own work means to us as a culture.

So together with TCM, 1921 PVG Publishing, Timeline Film and the Mary Pickford Institute, we have created a campaign to get Baby Peggy the star she so truly deserves.
