<p>Chad Engel is a fresh director with a passion for practical special effects. He studied film at Interlochen Arts Academy, a performing arts school whose alum range from Anthony Rapp (Rent) to Rumer Willis. He accepted a Fine Arts Award in screen writing and was acknowledged by the director of Motion Picture Arts as the Golden Grip for his leadership on set. His first short film Marys Ring, won him nationwide attention. He received an honorable mention from ARTS, a golden key from Scholastic, and was selected for several film festivals including National Film Festival for Talented Youth (Seattle), First Sunday Film Festival (New York), Michigan Film Festival, and the Traverse City Film Festival.</p> <p>After his education he moved to Los Angeles and started working in special effects makeup. He was a lab assistant at Burman Studio. Burman's were working on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice.” He then became an assistant to one of Hollywood’s most talented effects artist: Kazuhiro Tsuji. Chad’s work with Tsuji has led him to work with many famous actors and actresses including Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman. His idols are directors Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson. Chad is one of few young directors who chose practical effects over digital. He is a promising visual director with a taste for fantasy fiction and dark comedy.</p>
