An award-winning director, making emotionally-charged and politically-aware films.
<p>Nicole Volavka trained in music, dance and drama as a child, before studying Psychology and Philosophy at University. She started her film career working in Acquisitions at Miramax Films, before moving into the production side as Assistant To Director Michael Caton-Jones on the <span class="caps">BBC</span> Films feature “Shooting Dogs” in Rwanda.</p> <p>She has an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School.</p> <p>Her first short film “A Girl’s Guide To Modern Dating” is a satirical romantic comedy and was shown at the Edinburgh Festival 2005. <br /> The second short “After Everything” is a drama about a father-daughter relationship and was selected for screening at the National Gallery in London. <br /> <b>Her third short film “Survivor” was a drama based on her experiences living in Rwanda. It has shown at 9 film festivals around the world, most recently winning “Best Actor” (Shaun Parkes) and “Best Script” at the <span class="caps">BFM</span> Film Festival in London.
