<p>Stepan Rudenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. He began his studies at an early age at Ukrainian National Music School No.10. In 1999, he moved to California, where he continued his studies with Anna and Viktor Polonsky, founders of the Polonsky Piano School - The Russian School of Music in Northern California, and later with Dr. Michael Schmitz, head of Piano Department at Notre Dame de Namur University. <br /><br />Stepan received a Bachelor of Music Degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2010, where he was a scholarship student and studied with Patricia Zander and Veronica Jochum. He is currently studying at Notre Dame de Namur University with Daniel Glover, Tom Hanson, and Dr. Michael Schmitz. In the fall of 2012 he will begin his Masters Degree program at San Francisco Conservatory under the direction of Paul Hersh.<br /><br />In 2005, he was the first prize the winner in the U.S. Open Music Competition and winner of the nineteenth annual Young Pianists' Beethoven Competition. <br /><br />He is currently collaborating with many composers of new music in Boston and San Francisco, as well as many collaborative projects with various artists in the area; some of which include SF New Music, Melos Music, The Living Earth Show (TLES), Grains, and Nonsemble 6.</p> <p> </p> <p>Stepan also performs with Weonsun Joo, piano, playing piano duo music in the Bay Area. Recently, Stepan he has formed the <em><a href="http://www.sottoamoreduo.com/" target="_blank">Sotto Amore Duo</a></em> with Sheena Gutierrez, violin, to perform concerts in the United States.</p>
