Dennis Nyback studied playwriting with David Wagoner at the University of Washington in Seattle. Also at UW he studied ballet with Ruthanna Boris and ballet and tap with Tommy Rall. His musical review Can't We Be Friends (Seattle 1994) became the inspiration for the 1999 American Masters PBS documentary Yours For a Song: The Women of Tin Pan Alley. His radio play Ten Cents a Dance was performed live on stage in Portland on April 11, 2013 and broadcast live over KBOO FM radio.
