I relish finding universal human stories in the apparently obscure, and celebrating society's hidden tribes. This has taken me all over the world and into the worlds of Mongolian sailors, Siberian chessboxers, Arctic outdoor preschool teachers, Norwegian Tamils, teenage orchid experts and ukulele subculture to name a few.

I've been making documentaries for international broadcasters since 2000, and before that worked as a TV news producer/reporter for 10 years in Tokyo, Hong Kong & Beijing with ABC News, CNBC Asia, and CNN. Other jobs include presenting game shows in Chinese, doing live news reports in Japanese, consulting for the broadcasters of the inaugural Shanghai Grand Prix, conducting seminars in social documentary filmmaking at Chinese TV stations, and representing Great Britain at World Ultimate Frisbee Championships.

I first heard of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain more than 20 years ago, and it has been a pleasure and privilege to see their long-overdue ascent to stardom from the inside.
