Never Give Up, Never Surrender!

My background comes from working with computers and mutimedia platforms such programming and flash animation and html. I didn[t quite have the pateince for it however and found myself caring more for the arts. Music and film have always been my passion and by making a multi-platform project such as a film you can combime both these elements.

During my time as a sound engineer I produced a hip hop band, managed a punk rock band and toured with an indie-rock band recording there tracks on the way. I loved having creative control over a piece of music. My sound days led me from doing live sound at clubnights and gigs to work as an assistant on a feature film. This opened my eyes to a new world and caused me to want to absorb more like a sponge.

After applying for Telford College i undertook a HND Televison course and began to learn basic techniques in editing, camera work and post production. With first drama project I wanted to make a film on almost no budget and spent maybe £30 in total on parking, petrol and food. I noticed making a film which although had a lot of potential, lacked professionalism within the sets and quality of the footage, having had the money I could have improved varous elements of the script and the final look of the project.

For 'The Street Fighter' I want to raise the bar so my directing skills are not limited to not having a budget. To be able to make a film worthy of it's title I need quality designed costumes, make-up, high-end equipment, professional crew and established actors. With a budget of £1500 I could buy a prime lens, pay a small amount of money for actors, afford make-up, hire a Canon 5d camera and attachments, pay for filters and a filter holder for the outdoor scenes, design a costume for Old Man, hire a top director of photography, get composers involved, design the sound, grade the colour and any deposits left would be used for getting the film into film festivls.

Please help this cause, whether you are a fan of martial arts and friendship or even if you just like films.

Yours sincerly,

Paul Travers

Writer/ Director/ Producer/ Editor
