From Script to Screen! The making of The pUShER!

<p>Greeting Earthlings! &nbsp;Your friendly filmmaker, Gina, here! &nbsp;</p> <p>This is supposed to be "about me", but I'm only able to tell you a small story about a wonderful I'm extremely excited to be shooting my senior project! &nbsp;I am finally close to one of my goals: graduating from film school! And with that, I am &nbsp;shooting my final Senior Project.</p> <p>&nbsp; &nbsp; With this project, I have devoted every inch of extra time and enegry to producing the best movie I possibly&nbsp;can. &nbsp; This process has been frustrating, painful, overwhelming, exciting and exhilirating all at the same time! I feel like I'm putting my entire soul out on the line for all to see, but with all of that, the growth and learning that has also come from it has been enormous and worthwhile.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>HOW IT CAME TO BE:</strong></p> <p>I happened across an interesting 24 hour film piece that a fantastic new friend of mine, Josie Collier, had been a part of, back before she became a bad A@@ Director. &nbsp;Watching it, in its very basic form, as only 24 hour film fest are want to allow, I was instantly intrigued. &nbsp; The concept was good and the different scenarios were so different that despite the low budget feel and some what choppy scenes, my mind raced with multiple possibilities!</p> <p>When my fantastic friend let me know there had been rewrites and expansions, I instantly wanted to read the revisions. &nbsp;</p> <p>I contacted the writer,&nbsp;Mark Farias, and he instantly got back to me:</p> <table class="Bs nH ao9 dGpsQd id" cellpadding="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td class="Bu"> <div class="nH if"> <div class="nH"> <div class="nH hx"> <div class="nH"> <div class="h7 ie nH oy8Mbf"> <div class="Bk"> <div class="G3 G2 afm"> <div> <div id=":1r3"> <div class="adn ads"> <div class="gs"> <div id=":1r5" class="ii gt adP adO"> <div id=":1r4">Hi, I'm&nbsp;<span class="il">Mark</span>. The script Josie wanted me to send you was originally just 2 and a half pages of notes written in about 15 minutes (24 hour film fest, you know). I kept those notes and started to transfer it to an actual script but stopped about half way through - other projects and real life got in the way.&nbsp;</div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>&nbsp;I loved that...So, I pitched to him that I would love to make his movie MY movie, that I had the right motivation and determination and that I was surrounded by talented individuals that I knew I could pull together to make a great team! &nbsp;Mark was flattered and wiling to release this piece to me. &nbsp;Thank you, MARK and JOSIE! &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PIECING IT ALL TOGETHER, BIT BY BIT:</strong></p> <p>From there, I fleshed out the script a little bit more, tweaking it here and there, with some helpful words from my wonderful teacher, Branislav Bala and fellow classmates, Cassandra Klepac, Erik Parker, Chuck Beard, Christopher Barfield and Alyssa Mimbela. Put a bit of me into it, if you will.</p> <p>Pre-production started soon after that. I really struggled with the debate of whether I should direct this, with all the delving I had done into the script, but when after &nbsp;meeting Jeff, I knew that I had the right person to trust with such a gigantic task. &nbsp; He blew me away with his "I can do anything!" attitude and had me hook line and sinker from day... well, day two! &nbsp;Jeff MF Shelby! &nbsp;Thank you for joining me in this final journey of mine! For putting forth so much time and effort and enormous creativity! &nbsp;</p> <p>Now to find the right DP! &nbsp; &nbsp;Travis English is a man that has captivated me with his variety of talents and some really interesting ideas, and I'm sooo excited to have him onboard. His knowledge and willing to learn has been extremely poignant in the making of this and I hope that one day, when he's all big and famous, he'll remember a little film we did together, "back in the day."</p> <p>So, friends and family, today, &nbsp;a month before prinicipal shooting starts, I'm here to ask for a small favor.</p> <p><strong>THE LOGISTICS OF MY BUDGET:</strong></p> <p>&nbsp; Please, help me feed my talented crew and wonderful talent! Help me make the best movie I possibly can. Let me show you that I'm worth every penny. &nbsp;Let's do this together! &nbsp;</p> <p>I VOW to make this project a worthwhile investment, having every intentions of putting this into as many film festival circuits as I possibly can. I know this script is worth it. &nbsp; But don't take my word for it, invest whatever you can, and find out for yourself!</p> <p>Thanks for everything,&nbsp;</p> <p>Damn Gina!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
