Tamara Williams

Brooklyn, New York, United States

Dancer, Choreographer, Teacher, Student, Activist

I grew up on a dirt road in Georgia in the 1980s. I started dancing in our home during my parent's numerous house parties. My passion for dance grew & I moved for higher education in dance culture at FSU. I began to explore negotiating privilege & working in familiar communities. I moved to NYC to dance professionally & travel abroad, grasping as much as possible to digest and give back. Mentors include Stephanie McKee, Lynda Davis, Jawole Zollar, Ishmael Houston-Jones & Rosangela Silvestre.
