I grew up in Utah and I graduated from Brigham Young University with my bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts Education. After graduation I moved to New York City to pursue my dreams. I wanted something more than to work a part time job. I needed to do something else, something bigger. I struggled to make it. I worked hard in many different jobs, tutoring, babysitting, cleaning, teaching artist, substitute teaching, etc.

I looked into Graduate Schools and I found the PERFECT program for me at the City University of New York. I chose to go to The School of Professional Studies to get my Masters in Applied Theatre.

Applied Theatre: No I don’t want to be on Broadway. I want to use theatre to make a difference. To change lives. Theatre for Development, Theatre for Social Change, Theatre to overcome oppression, Theatre for social activism. These are all part of Applied Theatre!

And now I have the opportunity to go to Rwanda! To work with Students doing Drama and Theatre Education for Reconciliation and Development.
