<p><span><strong>Brewery Creek Community Garden</strong>&nbsp;is a project steered by a friendly bunch of folks from the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. Our goal is help meet the increasing demands for urban agriculture, while building community. The garden was designed through a series of community workshops and has been recently approved by the Vancouver Parks Board. We are building the garden for the start of the 2012 growing season.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p>Our goal is for each of our 40 members to invite 10 friends or family members to donate $10, for a total of $4,000! &nbsp;This money will be enough to buy the materials we need to build the basic features of the garden and get us digging and growing this season! &nbsp;We have lots of volunteers and always welcome more! &nbsp;</p> <p>Even before the garden comes into existence, the Brewery Creek Community Garden group has become active in bringing together neighbours and community members from Mount Pleasant to talk about food security, planting seeds and building community. &nbsp;We have partnerships with great organizations like Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House and the Mount Pleasant Branch of the Vancouver Public Library, and we're working with the Parents Advisory Committee at Mount Pleasant Elementary School to find ways to bring the garden experience to children and families in the neighbourhood.</p> <p>By supporting Brewery Creek Community Gardens you are supporting:</p> <ul> <li><strong>stronger communities</strong></li> <li><strong>urban agriculture</strong></li> <li><strong>youth food awareness programs</strong></li> <li><strong>urban beautification</strong></li> <li><strong>permaculture programs</strong></li> <li><strong>immigrant integration programs</strong></li> <li><strong>making urban parks a safer space</strong></li> </ul> <p>Please consider giving $10 or more to help us build Brewery Creek Community Garden and use the indiegogo share tools to share this message with your friends and family. &nbsp;Please contact us directly if you want to be involved in the garden, donate materials like a shed, or find out more about our garden workshops at the Vancouver Public Library. &nbsp;Email:<strong>&nbsp;brewerycreekgarden@gmail.com &nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Thanks for checking us out and happy growing!</p>
