Yiorgos Moustakis

Oslo, Norway

My passion with moving images started only after becoming involved with still images, trying to recreate reality - instead of just capturing it, an interest which I still have.

So during my passage through the academia and obtaining Bachelor and Masters degrees in film directing I made three films and at the same time was becoming more confident that making films is what I want to do for a living.

During my years of roaming between Prague, London and Wales after my studies, I worked in various areas from pre-production to post-production, in the field of TV and Film, in several European countries. I did also obtain some experience in sales and acquisition.

I participated in the inspiring 6th Berlinale Talent Campus (2008) and later on at the NISI MASA European Short Pitch (2010) workshop which was a very interesting screenplay development experience.

Besides my main passion which is fiction cinema, I gradually started to appreciate the power of documentary film when I came across a very interesting topic that I just had to tell to the world!

In 2011 I created Geometry Films with the goal of bringing this topic to life. I self financed the project, bought the minimum equipment and went straight ahaid to capture the first shot.

Before its completion the film was accepted at the Docs in Progress at the 14th Thessaloniki International Doc Festival. It was a very important point in the life of the project as it was embraced warmly by the participants of the market.

Several interesting delegates are waiting for the final cut of the film:TV byers, distributors and festival programmers but I am not in the position to complete this film without your support.

So this is how this campaing started.

The documentary "The Immortals at the Southern Point of Europe" is the company’s first production.

Filmography:

2007 Mari, S16mm, Black&White, 15′.

Best Film Award & Best Fiction Film Award Fresh Film Festival 2008 (UK)

Best Film Lo Sguardo Bifronte Short Film Festival 2008 (Italy)

Edinburgh International Film Festival – Trailblazer (Showcase of emerging film talent)2008 (UK)

Official Selection at the Jordan Short Film Festival 2007 (Jordan)

9th International Film Festival of Independent Filmmakers 2007 (Greece)

Brno 16 Short Film Festival 2007 (Czech Republic)

Mari’s screenplay was also awarded with:

Production and Post Production bursaries from SKILLSET-Council for Creative Media(UK)

Production bursary from the Jack Cardiff Fund for Cinematography (UK)

2006 The Corridor, DV, Color, 8′

2001 Halcyon Days, S16mm, Color, 8′
