Most of my personal work to date has focused on Marginalized communities in developed countries. I am interested in themes of internalized displacement and how culture within these communities shapes a people's coping mechanisms hence defining the way they live. I have always loved popular culture, anthropology and am interested in issues of social justice. I tend to have agnostic views, politically, religiously and socially and thus I love to simply document things as I see them and celebrate and question the madness and wonder of the earth we live on. I know I am a lucky and blessed person to be able to do what I love.

I'm a member of the Australian Collective Oculi and am distributed through Agency VU in Europe and Redux in the USA. Recent accomplishments include winning the Magnum Agency "Inge Morath Award" for Female photojournalists under the age of 30 and representing Australia's emerging female photojournalist at at Foto Freo 2010 Festival.
Please visit my website to see examples of the work I do.

www.clairemartinphotography.com
