<p><strong>Scapegoat Garden</strong> is Hartford-based collaborative dance theater,<br /> driven to create daring, interdisciplinary performance that goes in through the<br /> nose, eyes, skin, ears and mouth to stir those who witness or participate. <span class="largebodycopycolor">Scapegoat Garden seeks to exemplify Hartford's innovative, high quality professional dance theater and to contribute to the ongoing evolution of contemporary dance as a viable American art form. The company strives to forge relationships with artists and communities, helping people see, create and contribute to a greater vision of ourselves, each other and our city.</span></p> <p>Scapegoat Garden was founded by Hartford-native Deborah Goffe in 2002, and established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) arts organization in 2004. In its quest to create original performance works built on a commitment to artistic integrity, the company conjures lush worlds where movement, sound, images, garments, environment, food and drink are sourced for their ability to illuminate the human experience. Scapegoat Garden’s repertory has been selected for performance in festivals and venues throughout the region including Hartford’s <em>Charter Oak Cultural Center</em>, <em>The Studio</em> at Billings Forge, the <em>International Festival of Arts and Ideas </em>in New Haven, <em>Bates Dance Festival </em>in Lewiston, Maine, as well as New York City’s <em>Raw Material </em>Performance Series, and the <em>92nd Street Y</em>.</p>
