<p>Born and raised in Washington, DC, Aaron Shneyer has been living in Jerusalem since 2006. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Heartbeat which <span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;">utilizes music and popular media to build understanding and transform conflict, engaging and activating citizens in the Middle East and worldwide. Aaron started </span><span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;">Heartbeat in 2007 </span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">under a Fulbright-MTV grant to study the power of music to build mutual understanding.</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> In 2005 Aaron</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"> graduated from Georgetown University and since then has worked for many years as a dialogue facilitator and program coordinator with various youth empowerment and civil society peace-building efforts including Seeds of Peace and the Sulha Peace Project. </span> Aaron <span style="color: #222222;">performs with music ensembles throughout the United States, Israel and Palestine, including Mashrou3 Jidi L'Hadat Bal, SAZ and TuRap, a well-known Palestinian Hip-Hop Band, and WhiteFlag, the Palestinian-Israeli Street Fusion band.
