Esery came to filmmaking after more than a decade fighting alongside workers as a union organizer. He has produced and directed two short documentaries: The Last Chapter — which recounts the history of the Toronto Women’s Bookstore and it’s closing in the fall of 2012; and Welcome To Dresden which revisits the campaign to end racial discrimination in the town of Dresden, Ontario in the mid 1950’s. He's currently in post production of Pichon, his first feature documentary.
