As a kid, my brother and I told stories into a tape-recorder. Eventually I created a "neighborhood play" -- my own version of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, complete with musical guest (me as Mac Davis), followed by a "movie" about Marco Polo (also me). Then it was a neighborhood newspaper, delivered in the living room to my parents, and poetry readings at the school talent show. In 8th grade, I interviewed a Holocaust survivor... and my purpose, telling impactful stories, was cemented.
