Playwright, novelist, performer, campaigner for Scottish independence

I was born in Falkirk and live in Glasgow and am the author of four novels, including Boyracers and Death of a Ladies' Man. My plays and books have been shortlisted for numerous awards and in 2011 I was Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Writer of the Year. I often perform my own work onstage, and in 2014 will be mounting a production of my pro-Yes play, The Pure the Dead and the Brilliant at the Edinburgh Fringe.
