ArtCar artist for 30 years

I’ve been making ArtCars for 30 years. I’ve driven my six ArtCars from Canada to Mexico; from San Francisco across the Nevada deserts; over the Rocky Mountains, and deep in the heart of Texas. I’ve driven an ArtCar just about every day since 1983.

So I feel comfortable agreeing with Harvard’s John Beardsley in stating that "ArtCars are the quintessential public art of our time." ArtCars integrate art into the everyday world, they personify Productive Play, and bring joy wherever they go.

This is why Harrod and I started ArtCar Fest® in 1997 – to bring this great medium to the public. Since that time we’ve mounted many exhibitions and organized many ArtCar tours. ArtCar Fest exhibitions have been featured by the Smithsonian and National Geographic channels, The NY times, Washington Post, Wall St. Journal, LA Times, Artweek, Juxtapoz, Wired, Stern and many others.

My 2003 ArtCar tour was the SF Weekly cover story. My 2007 ArtCar tour to Arizona’s Art Car World Museum (founded by Harrod Blank) earned a National Endowment for the Arts award.

Now we want to bring ArtCar Fest to Reno, Nevada and bring ArtCars from around the country to witness Reno’s renaissance.
