I am a licensed massage and bodywork therapist. I have the comfy sheets, quiet music, aromatherapy oils...but I also have 21 years experience and several techniques I've mastered, one or a blend of which is right to help each of my clients relax and release the chronic tension patterns that keep their bodies from being balanced, flexible and free from pain. In May of 2011 I began volunteering at the Horse Protection Society in China Grove, NC. I'd pet a horse maybe once or twice in my life, never been riding, and had no clue if I even liked them or if they liked me. But I've always been fascinated by the therapists I've met who work on horses, so figured it was time to see if it's a path I should take. HPS is a non-profit rescue sanctuary for abused, neglected and starved horses. Once they are restored to good health, we help them find new homes. As it turns out, I'm a near-natural with the horses! I'm still far from being a 'horse whisperer', but I've joked at being in the 'mumbling' stage of learning. I am now one of the seasoned volunteers responsible for providing basic medical and maintenance protocols.
