The forest belongs to all of us and the people who live there are our family
My grandmother was Memominee, and like most Native American tribes, they lost most of their ancestral forest in the last few centuries. The pain of my ancestor's loss continues in me, and this is what drove me to visit this Borneo tribe when I heard they were losing their forest now. As Asuy says, the real enemy is despair. I believe that the power of the human heart is far greater than the forces of ignorance that drive greed and destruction -- and the heart will ultimately prevail.
