“photographing what matters”

Stefan Jora is an autodidact, documentary-based photographer concerned with truth and its varying postmodern shapes.

Stefan turned to photography in 2005, at the age of 23, following an existential crisis as a student of neoclassical economics. While searching for his own self, and after attending the Eddie Adams and the Missouri Photo Workshops, Stefan spent the next years drawn toward issues of cultural identity within various social groups in the United States; excerpts from this journey can be seen on his website.

Since 2009, Stefan has been working on The Gay Families Project, a photobook project featuring American gay families.

At present, Stefan resides in San Francisco, California.
