Born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, Maria took refuge with the late Lama Tharchin Rinpoche in 2012. A student of Lama Dechen Yeshe Wangmo in the tradition of the Dakini Heart Essence. She is also the Pearl Mala Facebook Content Manager and volunteer. Maria lives on a fruit tree farm on the Big Island with husband, sister-in-law and their two dogs and two cats.
