Care Finch is the President of I.R.I.S. Entertainment Corporation. She is the host of the Indie Rock Invasion Show (I.R.I.S.) heard Fridays from 8-9pm on 88.3 CJIQ; the host of I On Music weekends on Rogers TV and the Editor in Chief of Velvet Rope.

Care’s history started back in 2003 as co-op kid for the Rogers TV program Wayne McLean. Wayne suggested that someone start supporting the local, independent music community. Care was hooked.

In 2007, she began her radio program ‘The Rock Show’ on 100.3 CKMS and interviewed her first 52 bands in the first 52 weeks of the show. During that time, Kevin Doyle of the Victoria Park Boathouse (and who was, coincidentally, a fellow programmer at 100.3), offered Care a monthly residency on his stage the second Friday of the month. Given that Care was already working closely with her partner-in-crime, Todd Donald and his program ‘The Indie Invasion’ (heard on 88.3), Care opted to start ‘The Rock Show and The Indie Invasion Present’, January, 2008.

Fast forward six months when Care and Todd opted to forge the two radio programs and birth the Indie Rock Invasion Show. Care would subsequently found Indie Rock Invasion Show Entertainment in July, 2008.

Since that time, Indie Rock Invasion Show (I.R.I.S.) Entertainment has hosted over 250 live concerts, has started the TABU Music Festival, has a radio program, a television series and now a magazine. Incorporated in 2011, Care sits as the President of the I.R.I.S. Entertainment Corporation and oversees the many productions, and live shows I.R.I.S. brings to the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph community. She was nominated for the 2011 Oktoberfest Woman of the Year, and was a recipient of the Waterloo Region Record’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2012. She was also nominated in the Waterloo Region Women of the Year (2012). She has also won Reader’s Choice awards for Best Local MC (Echo), Best Local Writer (Echo), Best Promoter (Echo) as well as Best Show Poster (Sonic Boom Awards), Best Rock Show (Sonic Boom Awards) and Best Show Supporting Independent Talent (Sonic Boom Awards).

She’s always looking for interns!
