Shafer has had a long-running relationship with The Illyrian Players, LA’s sex positive theatre company. With them he has been seen as Peck in 'How I Learned to Drive,' Petruchio in 'Taming of the Shrew,' Clive and Cathy in 'Cloud 9' and as the Lord in 'Lord Blackberry's Apocalypse.' Most recently he played Dr. Givings in The Vibrator Play with Theatre Union. He has also performed at The Blank, A Noise Within, The Echo, The Actor's Studio, Seattle Repertory Theatre and ReAct, among others.
