As the ancient saying goes, “necessity is the mother of invention”.

I was inspired to action after reading a post on my local parent listserv from a volunteer at a social service agency pleading for baby clothing for a pregnant mother living in a homeless shelter. I decided to take action and collect baby items for her from families I knew. As I became more involved in making connections between the moms donating items and the agencies who help moms acquire much-needed essentials, I established Little Essentials as a not-for-profit organization in May 2011.
